Andy Fox Named 2026 ONSL Coach of the Year for Second Straight Season

After guiding the Sandhills Bogeys to the 2026 ONSL championship, Fox was recognized as the

league's top coach for the second consecutive season.

After a historic season for the Sandhills Bogeys, Coach Andy Fox has been named the Old North

State League Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. He is the first coach in ONSL

history to win the award twice. The honor, as voted on by his peers, is a testament to the respect

that Fox has earned throughout the league.

"It means a lot to me because it's my peers who voted for me. The fellow coaches and GMs are

the ones who do the voting. It means a lot to me personally, but I want to mention that all the

credit needs to go to my players because good players win games," Fox said.

Fox’s journey to Coach of the Year began long before his time with the Bogeys. Prior to joining

Sandhills, he had coaching stints at Watauga High School, Wilkes Community College, and St.

Andrews College where he served as the Head Coach until its closure in 2025. Those

experiences helped shape him into one of the most respected coaches in the ONSL.

Fox believes that the foundation of the Bogeys’ success starts with the culture built within the

program. Creating an environment where players understand expectations and buy into the

team’s goals together has been a driving force behind the Bogeys’ sustained success.

"I think it's the culture that we build. I think that we have a lot of guys that are bought into what

we are trying to do. I have a lot of guys that have been with me for two, three years. They know

what we expect out of them. Good players do cool things," Fox said.

Fox's impact extends beyond wins and championships. One of his greatest strengths has been his

ability to help players develop throughout the summer. 2026 ONSL Pitcher of the Year Hunter

Dakan credited Fox with helping him improve not only mechanically but mentally.

"Fox is great. Whether it be just cue stuff or the mental side, thinking the game, I think he really

helped me in terms of getting smarter," Dakan said.

Back-to-back Coach of the Year awards and an ONSL championship are the latest trophies in the

trophy case for Fox, but he continues to point to his players as the driving force behind the

program’s success. A culture built around trust, Fox has helped establish the Sandhills Bogeys as

one of the premier organizations in the Old North State League.
